ATV Update
Lake Moxie Campers Association
August 2009 (2)
We had our annual cookout at Greg and Joyce Barnes camp on Moxie Lake the 22nd with 30 members and guests in attendance. Everyone enjoyed a great time, good weather and delicious food. Thanks to everyone that brought dishes and to our “camp cooks”, Greg Barnes and Jerry Fleury. The deep fried bacon hot dogs were a big hit. While the children enjoyed the water the grown -ups socialized in a nice lake breeze which was a relief from the heat of the past week. A trail ride followed to Northern Outdoors for those that were interested.
Elections were held at the club meeting on Sunday, August 23rd. The newly elected officers are:
President: Chris Greenleaf
A big thank you to Chris & Dave for dedicating yet another 2 years to our cause, and to Bob and Joyce for stepping up to the plate. We also wish to thank our outgoing Sec. / Treas. and Vice President Diane Pare' and Dan Bogaczyk for volunteering their time. It is very much appreciated.
Our Trail Master updated everyone on the excavating that has been done to the trail from Trout Dale to the Boise Road and the new trail to Moxie Falls. These trails are open but may be a little rough. David, Greg and anyone that wishes to volunteer will be dragging these trails to hopefully smooth them out.
We wish to welcome new club members Daishia Fleury and David Bragan and thank all the rest of you for continuing to support this club.
ATV Maine will be holding a meeting at Northern Outdoors on Sept. 17 starting at 9 am. Anyone that wishes to attend this meeting is welcome. These meetings start at 9:00 and usually go until 3:00 with a lunch available from Northern Outdoors at the cost of $12.00.
We need to find an ATV Maine Director from our club to represent us in the quarterly ATV Maine meetings. If you think you might be interested, attending this meeting would help you understand what this entails, then let Chris know if this is something that interests you.
Everyone was reminded to ride safely. We have heard of quite a few ATV accidents this year. Due to all the rain this summer, trails have changed and potholes and rocks are appearing where there were none before. Please be aware of this, especially when allowing young folks to drive.
The winner of the 50/50 drawing was Bob Cryan. Congratulations Bob!
Our next and last meeting of this season will be held at the The Forks Town Office on October 11, at 9:00 am. We will have a “Fall Foliage Ride” to Greenville and the Little Moxie area on Sunday October 11 leaving the start of the Shirley road at 11:00 am. We hope to see as many of you as possible. (For those closing up camp for the season on that weekend, we wish you a Safe, Healthy and Happy winter). We hope will see all of you in the spring and you have a safe and healthy winter.
